KAROLINE
TV: Eleanor Chun on Hulu’s Death and Other Details
Film: A24’s A Different Man
I was born in Shanghai. There was no air conditioning in my mother’s hospital, and I was ten days late. I grew up in Stockholm and South Texas, and attended a pre-med high school (yah). I took a gap year from rowing at Harvard to train at Atlantic Acting School, then went to apprentice at Actors Theatre of Louisville. My first audition in New York was for Tom Stoppard’s The Hard Problem at Lincoln Center Theater. I played Bo. I originated the role of Mei/Mistress/Liaison in [Veil Widow Conspiracy] for which The New York Times called me “terrific” and the lead in Exclusion, written by Kenneth Lin and directed by Trip Cullman. Once, I modeled for Gucci. I’ve workshopped new plays with numerous Off-Broadway theaters, including Signature, Second Stage, NYTW, Clubbed Thumb, Primary Stages, The Playwrights Realm, The Drama League, Breaking the Binary (BTB), NAATCO, Fault Line, Fresh Ground Pepper, La MaMa. New Georges Affiliated Artist. Former artist-in-residence at The Nicholson Project.
I’ve shadowed Yangzom Brauen and Dinh Thai on four episodes of television, and am currently developing my first feature film, No Funeral.
